When people talk about Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), they often think of Vietnam’s economic powerhouse — the country’s most modern, prosperous, and vibrant city. The symbols of today’s Saigon are landmarks such as Bitexco Tower, Landmark 81, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and busy avenues filled with traffic, people, cafés, and internationally known brands.

Yet as time gradually makes way for a more modern cityscape, somewhere within Saigon there are still narrow alleyways that carry the spirit of old Saigon — folding metal doors, sidewalk food stalls, cyclos, bicycles, vintage motorbikes, and faded environmental slogans painted on the walls.

Soon enough, scenes like these will slowly be replaced by newer things. And so, Book Nook chose to preserve the images of old Saigon before they disappear completely.
